The most disturbing part of Rrap’s work however, is actually its odd sense of familiarity. We are bombarded with images of the disfigured female form; ads often show only the torso or legs of a woman, sometimes making her to represent the product itself being sold. Between the time we first see Rraps work and when we conclude it is a grotesque representation of the human form — there is a fraction of a moment where the image seem normal. Her work challenges us to confront that moment, and question the forces that has normalized such imagery.
